SS16 - FLOATING BLOSSOMS

The Muehleder SS16 Collection titled Floating Blossoms was inspired by Andy Warhol's paintings "Flowers." Designer Larissa Muehleder, drew inspiration from the bold colors and pronounced floral shapes. The lace used in the collection has a texture produced from spun silk thread. The result is an outstanding floral pattern that looks intricate and luxurious.

From Lagos to Brooklyn

Having spent her earliest years in Nigeria, her cultural heritage instilled in her a deep love for boldness and vibrancy. These traits would later come to life in the creations of her eponymous brand, Muehleder. However, the journey to becoming a designer wasn’t a straightforward path—it was a winding narrative of immigration, self-discovery, and an unwavering pursuit of the vision she held for herself and the women she aspired to create for.

Her first clients were teenage girls just like her, eager to see the Prom Dress of their dreams come to life. She found immense joy in the design process and in the friendships that blossomed from their trust in her ideas. At the tender age of 16, she already understood that designing wasn’t just about fabric and thread—it was about empowering women to embrace their differences, every curve and smile. Each piece she created became an invitation to stand tall, to own their space, and to celebrate the unique beauty within.

Through feminine silhouettes, cascading ruffles, and a fearless embrace of bold hues, Muehleder has proudly captured the attention of powerful women worldwide. Icons like Beyoncé, Zendaya, Issa Rae, and Cardi B have embraced the brand’s vision, amplifying its impact and reach. Yet, beyond celebrity endorsements, Muehleder has become a point of connection—a place where women can find solace, solidarity, and sisterhood. It stands as a testament to the dreams of a little mixed girl, realized through resilience, determination, and an unwavering belief in the power of self-expression.
