Last week felt like a full-circle moment. Designer Larissa Muehleder, born to a Nigerian mother from Delta State and raised in the country as a child, returned to Lagos, Nigeria for the first time in ten years and marked the occasion in true Muehleder fashion: with an electric pop-up at the iconic Polo Avenue that doubled as a love letter to home and a bold introduction to the brand’s world.
A Homecoming 10 Years in the Making
For Muehleder, Lagos isn’t just a dot on a map, it’s origin, energy, and inspiration. The homecoming carried layers: family roots, childhood memories, and the unmistakable Lagos spirit that shaped Larissa’s fearless approach to design. Bringing the New York–based label back to where her mother is from and where she once ran through markets, soaked up color, and learned confidence, made this debut feel both intimate and monumental.
“After building my brand in New York, I've always yearned to return and become a part of the fashion community here in Lagos. The feeling once I touched down, the food, the smells, the smiles, were all too familiar. It's so nice to be home.”

A Pop-Up with Purpose
The evening unfolded inside Polo Avenue, which transformed into an immersive Muehleder universe with personal styling services provided by celebrity stylist @kachmeifyoucan. Guests explored the label’s signature language, daring silhouettes, bubble hems, and unapologetically feminine lines, styled for Lagos nights and celebratory days. Pieces invited movement and personality, encouraging everyone to try, twirl, and make each look their own.
It wasn’t simply a retail moment; it was a cultural exchange. Polo Avenue—long committed to bridging global fashion—set the stage for a designer whose work champions bold, visionary women and centers community. Together, they created a space where Lagos style met New York polish, and individuality was the only dress code.

The Crowd & The Vibe
Stylists, creators, and tastemakers flowed through the room alongside longtime supporters and new faces discovering the brand for the first time. Cameras flashed, hemlines swished, and conversations sparked about craft, confidence, and what it means to build luxury with integrity. The result? An unforgettable night of fashion and creativity that looked and felt like Lagos itself—vibrant, ambitious, and rich!

Why Lagos Matters to Muehleder
Muehleder designs have always traveled, from studio to runway to real life, but Lagos adds a chapter that’s personal. Returning to a city that raised her sharpened Larissa’s mission: to empower multifaceted women who live loudly, lead fearlessly, and show up as art in motion. This pop-up wasn’t just a debut; it was a declaration that Black-owned luxury is at home on every continent, especially the one that shaped it first.

The Collection, Up Close
Architectural bows hugged waists and shoulders. Bubble hems floated with Lagos breeze. Tailored separates nodded to power dressing, while evening pieces delivered drama without sacrificing comfort. Each garment carried the brand’s DNA: confidence, craftsmanship, and a quietly insistent glamour that works from day party to after-hours.
